Exam in Three Days? A Realistic Study Plan

You can't cover everything, so here is how to pick what counts.

The short answer

Spend the first hour sorting topics, not studying. Then use past papers to decide what deserves your three days. Sleep every night.

You won’t finish the syllabus. Accept that now and you’ll save hours of panic. The goal for the next three days is marks, and marks come from the topics that repeat.

Day 1: sort, then learn the big topics

Get the syllabus and the last three or four years of papers. Mark what shows up again and again. Split everything into three piles: must do, if time allows, and leave it.

Spend the rest of the day on the must-do pile, starting with what you half know already. Those topics give marks fastest.

Day 2: practise out loud

Reading feels productive, but it fools you. Close the book and write the answer, or explain it to a friend. If you can’t, you don’t know it yet. Go back for that part only.

Day 3: past papers on a timer

Sit one full paper under a timer in the morning. Check it honestly. Fix your weak spots in the afternoon, then stop by evening and go through a single page of short notes.

Protect your sleep

Your memory needs sleep to hold on to what you've read. An all-nighter before an exam usually costs more marks than it earns.

In the exam hall

Read the whole paper first. Start with the question you know best, because an early win calms you down. Keep an eye on the marks per question, and don’t give 40 minutes to something worth five.

Quick questions

What if I haven't started at all?

Then go straight to past papers and pick the five most repeated topics. Depth on those beats a thin read of everything.

Group study or alone?

Learn alone, then test each other for an hour. Groups are great for testing and terrible for first reads.
